Youth and Collegiate Symphony performs November 14

SALISBURY, MD ---The Salisbury Symphony Orchestra's Youth and Collegiate Symphony at Salisbury University performs in the Great Hall, Holloway Hall on Thursday, November 14, at 7:30 p.m. The ensemble features University students and other musicians from across Delmarva.

The program includes "Procession of the Mastersingers" from "Die Meistersinger" by Richard Wagner, arranged by Bruno Reibold; "Chester" by William Billings; "Dance of the Tumblers" from Snow Maiden by Rimsky-Korsakoff; "Come Little Shepherds" from three Spanish carols arranged by Robert Bauernschmidt; "The Peanut Vendor" by Moises Simons; "The Penny-Whistle Song" by LeRoy Anderson featuring the flute section with Amanda Doss, Ashley Burton and Erin Meyer.

The Youth Orchestra also plays an arrangement of "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" for younger audience members.

During the second half of the concert, the Collegiate Orchestra performs "Theme from Schindler's List" featuring principal violinist, Hannah Bienhoff, playing the hauntingly beautiful main theme. "English Folk Song Suite" by Ralph Vaughn Williams is a well-known medley of folk tunes arranged for symphony orchestra.

Tickets, sold at the door, are $5 for adults and $2 for children 18 and under.
