SU Dance Company Showcase is November 6, 8-9

SALISBURY, MD ---Salisbury University Dance Company's 13th annual Fall Showcase is Wednesday, November 6, and Friday-Saturday, November 8-9, at 8 p.m. in Holloway Hall Auditorium. The popular production features guest artists Darby Iva Pack and Lisa Jones, and six new member works.

Pack and Jones perform "Subconscious Faults," a duet choreographed to the music of Tracy Chapman. Exploring the foundation of friendship between two women, the dance has been performed at the Kennedy Center National Gala of the National American College Dance Festival and the Black College Dance Exchange in Tallahassee, FL.

Seniors Kristen Nicole Flowers and Tracee Torrillo present "Icon," a fun and entertaining jazz dance for 10 featuring the music of Madonna from the 1980s to present.

Senior Carlyn L. Keene presents "Fever," a jazz work for six set to the music of Peggy Lee.

"Cuttin' Loose," by junior Dara L. Phillips, explores the contrast between classical and popular dance and music.

Jennifer Plourde, a senior, presents "Undertones" for 12 dancers. Set to the soulful works of Jack Johnson, the dancers' costumes reflect the three apparent undertones of the music in the modern and lyrical "Sexy Plexi" and the playful and upbeat "Bubble Toes."

Senior Erin Fair Rhoades presents "An Angel's Requiem," set to the music of the Pat McGee Band. Dedicated to those who have left this Earth too soon, this lyrical work for six dancers explores the acceptance of a new angel into heaven.

Stephanie Stotler, a junior, presents a nightclub scene in "Walk on the Wild Side" to the music of Si Zenter and his jazz orchestra.

Guest choreographer and SU alumna Carolyn Hitchcock-Evans premiers the swinging "All for One," a rousing all-company work in three sections.

Tickets for the performance are $8 for adults; $6 for senior citizens and teens. Children under 12 and SU ID holders are admitted free. Reservations are not required; tickets are available at the door 30 minutes before curtain. Fund-raising proceeds benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
