Students achieve 100 percent pass rate
SALISBURY, MD ---All graduates of Salisbury University's Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology Program last spring passed the national certification exams given by the American Society of Clinical Pathology. Nationally, only 80 percent of examinees passed this exam in the most recent cycle. The SU program also scored above the national mean in five of six categories indicating significant accomplishment across the board in a variety of laboratory areas.
According to Gary Shortall, laboratory manager at Shore Health Labs, "Shore Health has always been pleased with the graduates that we have employed from the program. It's great to have a program like this available on the Eastern Shore and the consistent ability of SU graduates to pass their certification exams is a credit to the students and faculty."
Michael Hafez, a graduate of the program who is currently supervising at Johns Hopkins DNA/Molecular Lab, likes the career potential.
"Medical technology/clinical laboratory science provides a solid foundation in the medical and laboratory sciences. This strong background provides one with the knowledge to pursue many different avenues for future growth in the laboratory or in other areas."
