SU Hosts American Spirituals Solo Voice Competition Saturday, October 30

SALISBURY, MD---The second annual American Spirituals Solo Voice Competition is 2 p.m. Saturday, October 30, in Salisbury University’s Holloway Hall Auditorium.
Singers throughout the country participate in the competition. They sing accompanied and unaccompanied African-American spirituals arranged by notable composers such as Harry T. Burleigh, Margaret Bonds, Hall Johnson and William Grant Still. Dr. J. LanYe, founder of the competition, speaks on the historical context of the spirituals. Susan Zimmer serves as piano accompanist.
