SU Galleries Presents 'Eight Suzhou Artists' August 29-September 27
SALISBURY, MD---Last year, eight artists from Suzhou, China, made local headlines during a painting demonstration at Salisbury University. Now, their works come to SU during a month-long exhibit.
“Eight Suzhou Artists” hangs August 29-September 27 in the Atrium Gallery of the Guerrieri University Center. The exhibit includes works by Qi Chunlan, Xu Huiquan, Chen Jianjun, Sun Junliang, Shen Minyi, Zhang Xiaofei, Dai Yunliang and Chen Weibing. Regarded as some of China’s best artists, most are instructors at the Suzhou Academy of Fine Art and Suzhou University.
Their creations are regularly exhibited in Europe, Japan and Canada, with pieces found in collections in New York, Paris, Tokyo and Bangkok. The flowing waters, elegant bridges, gateways, classical flower gardens, temples and pavilions of Suzhou are dominant in these watercolor and ink artworks.
The exhibit is part of a joint cultural exchange between Maryland and Suzhou. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, closed on holidays.
Sponsored by University Galleries, admission is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-548-2547 or visit the University Galleries Web site at www.salisbury.edu/universitygalleries.
