Film at Fulton Series Returns to SU This Spring

By SU Public Relations

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts hosts this spring’s “Film at Fulton” series 3 p.m. the first Sunday of each month in the Herman van Apeldoorn Film Center, Fulton Hall Room 111.

A panel discussion with experts and enthusiasts follows each screening. Films include:

  • February 2 – Chicken for Linda: Paulette feels guilty after unjustly punishing her daughter, Linda, and would do anything to make it up to her. Linda immediately asks for a meal of chicken with peppers, which reminds her of the dish her father used to make. Dr. David Johnson, professor of English, introduces this unique visual example of hand-painted animation with bright, color-blocked characters and a story that blends slapstick comedy, musical and family drama.
  • March 2 – Three Colors: Blue: Dr. James Burton, associate professor of communication, introduces his favorite film, the first part of the Three Colors trilogy. Juliette Binoche portrays Julie, a woman reeling from the death of her husband and young daughter. However, Blue is more than just a blistering study of grief; it also serves as a tale of liberation as Julie attempts to free herself from the past while confronting truths about the life of her late husband, a composer.
  • April 13 – The Zone of Interest: Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss and his wife, Hedwig, strive to build a dream life for their family in a house and garden beside a concentration camp, allowing audiences to face the agony of the past with hope for humanity. Drs. Maarten Pereboom, dean of the Fulton School, and Elsie Walker, professor of English, co-host this screening.

Admission is free and the public is invited. Those planning to park on campus must register in advance for a free parking pass.
