Please note : T-shirts and, in some cases, other incentives will be available to students who complete the assessments and make an authentic effort to engage with the test questions and answer to the best of their ability. Students who do not spend enough time reading instructions, questions, and answers, and who finish their tests very rapidly or very slowly are at risk of having their results discarded for quality concerns and may not receive GULL Week incentives such as t-shirts or extra credit (in cases in which faculty choose to offer extra credit; not all faculty do this).

Participant lists and t-shirts are sent out approximately one month after the completion of GULL Week.

About GULL Week

Gaining Understanding as a Lifelong Learner (GULL) Week occurs in the early part of fall semesters. During GULL Week undergraduate students participate in assessments. The information gathered during GULL Week will be used by SU to demonstrate skills and knowledge that SU students develop and to improve the General Education program. Your participation is needed and important to the University!

Why students participate
Every student matters! Your participation can help us:
- know where you are in terms of skills and knowledge
- know about your opinions, behaviors, and general feedback
- identify what we are doing well and where we can focus on improving
- inform revision of our GenEd curriculum
- inform revision of your major's curriculum
- continuously improve students' experience at SU
The more the merrier! Low samples of student data will not accurately represent what is really happening with student learning and outcomes at SU, but large enough samples will allow meaningful data, results, and evidence-based decision-making.

Participated in GULL Week before? Please participate again! Not only do we rotate the assessments we administer in GULL Week, but we also hope to have students take the same test several times during their time at SU so we can see if there is any change. For instance, has your Information Literacy improved from when you were an incoming student to a year or two later?
