Open Positions
Requirements
- Applicants must have a strong interest in serving the local community and giving back.
- Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
- Applicants must have reliable transportation.
- Full-time and Half-time applicants should be available to attend the tuition-free, mandatory AmeriCorps member class at Salisbury University held biweekly on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. during the Fall and Spring semesters. Minimum-time applicants are not required to attend.
- Applicants must be able to provide documentation that they are “citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States.” To document this status, a US birth certificate OR US passport OR Permanent Resident Card INS Form I–551 is required.
- Applicants DO NOT need to be college students, anyone from the community who fits the above requirements may participate.
Benefits
A full-time, one-year commitment of 1700 hours of service (approximately 40 hours per week) offers the following benefits:
- Bi-weekly living allowance of $1,062 (over 48 weeks of active service)
- Education award of $7,395 to help pay for federal student loans and/or future educational expenses. Members who are age 55 or older may gift their award to a child or grandchild.
- Health Insurance, if eligible
- Child care reimbursements, if eligible
- Eight tuition-free undergraduate credits for completion of the training course at Salisbury University
- Federal student loan forbearance during service
- Forgiveness of the interest accrued on a federal student loan that is in forbearance during service (upon successful completion of service)
- Support, including all expenses, to become a certified nonprofit professional (CNP) through the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance
A half-time, one-year commitment of 900 hours of service (approximately 20 hours per week) offers the following benefits:
- Bi-weekly living allowance of $562 (over 48 weeks of active service)
- Education award of $3,697 to help pay for federal student loans and/or future educational expenses. Members who are age 55 or older may gift their award to a child or grandchild.
- Eight tuition-free undergraduate credits for completion of the training course at Salisbury University
- Federal student loan forbearance during service
- Forgiveness of the interest accrued on a federal student loan that is in forbearance during service (upon successful completion of service)
- Support, including all expenses, to become a certified nonprofit professional (CNP) through the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance
A minimum-time, one-year commitment of 300 hours of service offers the following benefits:
- Education award of $1,565 to help pay for federal student loans and/or future educational expenses. Members who are age 55 or older may gift their award to a child or grandchild.
- Federal student loan forbearance during service
- Forgiveness of the interest accrued on a federal student loan that is in forbearance during service (upon successful completion of service)
- Current SU Students may apply your AmeriCorps experience toward the new Nonprofit Leadership Alliance certification program at SU.
The Process
- Fill out an application!
- Our staff will review your application and contact you with any questions.
- We will then send your application out to sites based on the preferences specified on your application. You'll be notified via email when your application has been sent to a site(s).
- It is then up to the site(s) to contact you for an interview.
- If/when you are selected by a site and you accept the offer to commit to completing 1700, 900, or 300 hours (depending on position type) by August 14, 2026, you can become a member, assuming acceptable criminal background check results.
- New members start on a rolling basis, on or after August 15th, 2025 for the 2025-26 service year.
- Position start dates are flexible and positions remain open until filled.
All member service positions are dependent upon receipt of grant award.
